Why Kichler Transformers?

• The type of transformer to select may depend on the size of the lighting job, design layout, watts required, length of cable runs. To help make your selection easier, each Kichler Series Transformer in the section provides help on how to choose the transformer for the application. Be sure to consider whether expansion to the system is likely in the future. Time and money can be saved by planning ahead, selecting a transformer with extra space.
   
• Kichler recommends transformers and landscape lighting be installed by a professional. Many local governments require that an electrician install any product over 15 Volts. Be sure to refer to local ordinances and electrical codes which can supersede national code.
   
• Unlike many others, Kichler Transformers feature 100% epoxy encapsulation, secondary protection and auto-resettable circuit breakers.

Safe

• All transformers feature on common per circuit. UL requirements limit each circuit to 300 Watts.
   
• Kichler Transformers feature secondary circuit breaker for short circuit protection as standard feature. Higher quality models such ass these feature magnetic circuit breakers that provide greater reliability and safety by providing a faster response to a fault in the system.
   
• Kichler Transformers feature an in-line primary thermostat for protection against the thermal over-load. These built-in thermostats are auto-resetting, eliminating the need for replacement or maintenance.
   
• Submersible rated transformer are designed and rated to provide power for fixtures placed in a pond, fountain or other landscape water feature. Fixtures used in water feature must also be rated submersible use. Transformers rated for use with submersible fixtures feature 3 foot of #12-3 SJTW (extension style cord.) They are NOT rated for use with fixtures in pools, spas or bodies of water intended for immersion of humans. The submersible rating feature varies by model.

• Full enclosure of the housing protects components from weather, sprinkling systems and debris.
   
• Professional Series and contractor series housings are made of stainless steel grade 304 designed to resist heat and corrosion, and last longer in outdoor environments.
   
• Every tap is tested on the assembly line to ensure that output is consistently accurate. 100% TESTED.
   
• UL 1838 Standard requires all listed transformers pass a sprinkler test. Kichler follows UL safety standards because compliance is important long after the installation is complete.
   
• Multi-tap transformers have become the professional standard because they allow greater flexibility in managing multiple wire runs by moving cable up and down the multi-range. This is important because lamp life is reduced dramatically if there are too many volts to a lamp. Uneven light output can loom unprofessional and light that is too dim creates dissatisfaction from improper quality of light.
   
• Installation is made easier with 30 degree tilted taps mounted on 125-AMP terminal board. There is more space and greater visibility while inserting cables into taps.
   
• Units can be loaded up to the full maximum watts, including cable length, fixtures and cable loss. For ease in calculating runs, Kichler provides a Voltage Drop Tool in CD format that features pull-down menus and professional printouts for record keeping.
   
• Internal wiring is rated for 302 Degrees Fahrenheit which exceeds safety standard requirement and provides longer life.

Warranty

• Limited lifetime warranty on Stainless Steel(SS) transformer models.
   
• A limited 10-Year Warranty on power-coated Textured Architectural Bronze(AZT) transformer models.
   
• National Electric Code and Underwriters Laboratories(UL) require that wiring, where concealed or extended through a building wall, must be enclosed in conduit.
   
• All transformers carry a UL Listing mark suitable for the U.S. and Canadian market-place. UL Listed 1838.
